This Thursday as part of A-Foundation's TAXED events, Arena will open its doors and invite you in to participate in Speed Caking.

Inspired by the Städelschule's Gastof event and its concerns with the organic sourcing ingredients of food, from it's growth to its manifestation as a finished dish, Speed Caking will mix locally sourced ingredients with the creative talents of visitors to the gallery.

Using these local ingredients, visitors will be able to make their own cake or build and contribute to a larger cake or delectable delight, before moving on to the next cake and choosing whether to start on a new item or continue the work of the previous participant.

There will also be a variety of finished cakes and tea in abundance at the event so come down and become part of the process or become a consumer.

10.11.08 Arena Studio Move

I have been busy over the last couple of weeks as the studio that I am in has moved from our old premises on Jordan street to Elevator. Elevator has recently expanded, moving itself into an old dock warehouse; having re-designed and smartened up the building in true Elevator style. There are now even more bands and creative companies. The community exists in the former Victorian Warehouses opposite the Cains Brewery, Liverpool. Our studio Arena is on the first floor. This will be my first winter in a warm studio!!! No more painting with gloves on. There is a really nice vibe at Elevator as there are designers, musicians, and artists all mixing together. Its nice hearing the bands rehearsing while you paint. Arena will be having an art auction and open studio nights soon so everyone can come and check it out.

The exhibition will feature a number of important works by international and Liverpool based artists such as Tim Macmillan's ground breaking bullet time photographic video work 'Dead Horse' which captures a horse at the moment of assassination from 360 degrees. 11.09.08 Superlambanana Auction

My Superlambanana the Superlovebanana went for £10,000 at the auction last night. I was a very proud parent. Over forty thousand people visited the superlambanana's at St Georges plateau over the last two days. All together we raised £550000 which means the Lord Mayor's charity appeal will benefit by around £400,000 from the net proceeds of the auction, with a further 25% to be raised from next week's internet auction of the remaining Superlambananas.

08.08.08 Superlambanana News

Today my Superlovebanana was on the front of the Liverpool Echo Newspaper and was on Northwest Tonight and Granada Reports.

07.08.08

My superlambanana is in wednesday's Liverpool Echo on page 15. It made me smile to see its picture. Look out for it.

17.06.08 News on the Superlambananas

A super stampede of colour-drenched public art is set to raise the 'baa' for Liverpool's European Capital of Culture year. Originally commissioned by the Liverpool Culture Company, Go Superlambananas is the most ambitious and all-inclusive public art event in the UK this year. For the next 10 weeks, the city will come alive with 119 mini-icons appearing on round-a-bouts, street corners and even inside major buildings such as Liverpool Town Hall. The finishing touches to the herd were completed at the Matchworks factory, which was where the original SuperLambBanana was created 10 years ago.

Councillor Warren Bradley, Leader of Liverpool City Council and Deputy Chairman of the Liverpool Culture Company, said: ''Go Superlambananas is one of the most eagerly awaited events of our capital of culture year and I'm sure it won't disappoint. It's involved so many people and will touch so many more. I've no doubt it will put a smile on the city and strengthen the feel good factor sweeping the city this year.'' The public are being urged to get up-close and personal with the Superlambs. Trail maps and souvenir guides will be available right across the region in travel centres, tourist information centres, libraries, museums, galleries, and the 08 Place.

If you would like to meet my superlambanana it is number 23 on the map and can be found in the Cotton Exchange Couryard by Old Hall St. It is called The Superlovebanana and is sponsored by Liverpool Registration Service.

29.05.08 Superlambanana Information

For ten weeks during this Summer, Liverpool will be full of surprises as 100 Superlambananas are transformed into unique and exciting artworks displayed throughout the streets, parks, neighbourhoods and open spaces - creating a magical atmosphere which is sure to capture the imagination of residents and visitors alike.

Originally created by Taro Chiezo for Arts Transpennine in 1998, a 180cm tall Superlambanana has been specially designed to enable local and regional artists, celebrities, residents and businesses to showcase their creativity and celebrate the fun and diverse spirit which is at the very heart of Liverpool.
Following the event, many of the Superlambananas will be sold at a charity auction with a significant percentage of the proceeds going to the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal.
I cant wait to see all the different designs!

Rheinwärts

Pete Clarke and Georg Gartz have been invited to have a 'Retrospective of Ten Years of Collaboration' featuring the most recent paintings 'Rheinwärts'. This series of paintings produced in 2008 is based on in Turner's paintings and sketchbooks as he travelled along the Rhine and Mosel exploring the German landscape. This Collaboration Project by Pete Clarke & Georg Gartz featuring the work - 'Rheinlust' was exhibited as a major part of the 'Die Lange Nacht der Museen' 2007 [the long night of the museums] when Köln has a celebratory evening for the visual arts organised by the City of Köln and sponsored by the Stadt Review. 18.04.08  New Horse Racing Pictures

have been busy over the past couple of weeks working on some new horse racing designs. The designs feature some of my favourite horses including Grey Swallow and the legendary mare Makybe Diva who is the first thoroughbred to win the prestigious Melbourne Cup three times.

I have also done a picture of Kauto Star and one of the Grand National winner Comply Or Die. I was lucky enough to see both these horses at this years Grand National meeting.

07.04.08  The Grand National 2008

Saturday at the Grand National.

It was freezing and snowed later that night. I hope everyone who went had a good time. I had a great day and my sister managed to give one of my postcards to Timmy Murphy after he won the National. I am sad about Mckelvey though, he was a lovely horse.

02.04.08 My paintings at Aintree

Today is the start of the racing at Aintree racecourse. If you are going to Aintree over the Grand National weekend have a look for my paintings, they are in the Equestrian centre.

16.03.08  Touching up my paintings at Aintree

On Thursday I  went to Aintree to touch up one of my paintings. Its 8 foot high and its about 12 foot off the ground. The boys there lifted me up in a cherry picker so I could paint.

For anyone going to this years Grand National look out for my paintings you can't miss them they are huge. They are situated in  Aintree's new Equestrian Centre.
